Success at UPD's 15th Golf Challenge at Wentworth

On 13 October UPD (UK) Limited held its 15th Golf Challenge at the prestigious Wentworth Club in Surrey.

With a mixture of supply partners, clients and distribution members, and under thankfully dry conditions, 32 players tackled the newly redesigned West Course and enjoyed a memorable day of golf.

The winning team consisted of Darren Norton (Repair4Profit), Mark Sherratt (Honda UK), David Owen (Fix Auto) and Marcus Comfort (Honda UK).  Jon Evans (3M) achieved Nearest the Pin and Barry Holt (ITW) won the Longest Drive – a shot that even received accolades from Wentworth’s Rangers!  Steve Noble (3M) won Third Place in the individual competition and Barry Holt (no doubt spurred on by his superb Longest Drive) claimed Second Place.  But the overall winner was Mark Sherratt who achieved a personal ambition by playing at the prestigious course.

The day’s golf was followed by a formal dinner and prize giving in Wentworth’s Clubhouse, during which UPD introduced a table raffle in aid of the industry’s charity, BEN.  This proved extremely successful and raised £1,000 for the charity.

Barrie Dudey, Chairman for UPD, said “It is extremely gratifying to witness such generosity and we would like to thank all our guests for their kind donations.”

John Virando, UPD’s newly appointed CEO, commented “The event was a great success, judging by all the comments made by those who took part.  We are particularly delighted with the fundraising.  It is good to be able to give something back to the charity that supports our industry”.

The event was concluded with a presentation from John Virando to Barrie Dudey in commemoration of his contributions and dedication to UPD over the past 20 years.
